Javia (jay-vee-ah) grew up in Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands, before moving to Northern California. She has always had a passion for social justice and helping underserved communities. As a teenager, she could often be found volunteering at hospitals, shelters and local nursing homes. More recently, in her adulthood, she has organized events and public relations surrounding sexual assault, race relations and LGBTQ+ rights. Nonprofit marketing gives her the space to combine this passion for social justice with her creatively and love for statistical analysis. She finds fulfillment in serving the hearing-impaired community and is dedicated to the House Institute’s mission of creating a world where all may hear.
