Dr. Mehta is a neurosurgeon at the House Institute Neurosurgery Clinic and Clinical Scientist at the House Institute Foundation. He was the first graduate of the joint neurosurgery training program at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Virginia. There he gained extensive experience with pituitary tumors, endoscopic surgery, peripheral nerve tumors and radiosurgery. He then completed additional training in skull base surgery and neurosurgical oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Mehta was recruited to the House Clinic in 2018. His clinical interests include skull base surgery, brain and spine tumors, peripheral nerve surgery, Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) and von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. Dr. Mehta’s research currently focuses on NF2, peripheral nerve disorders, and innovative surgical approaches. His work has been recognized by awards from the American Brain Tumor Association, the North American Skull Base Society, the American Association of Immunologists, the National Institutes of Health and the University of Virginia. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed research articles and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Neuro-Oncology. In his free time, Dr. Mehta enjoys spending time with his wife and family, running and travel.
